NEW TOWNHOMES AND APARTMENTS COMING TO WINMORE
Winmore is pleased to announce that two new portions of the neighborhood are currently underway: The Townhomes in Winmore and The Landings at Winmore. The Chapel Hill Herald recently did a nice story, read it here.
The Townhomes in Winmore are currently being offered for pre-sale by David Weekley Homes, the nation's second largest privately held homebuilder. These 1000 to 1350 square feet townhomes will be priced from the $160,000s and will include many energy efficient building techniques. David Weekley Homes is offering homebuyers several plans to choose from, all of which include the unique Life DesignSM concept that insures the homes live as well as they look. Similar homes have been very well received in the neighboring community of Legends at Lake Hogan.
The Landings, developed by Crosland Builders, will consist of 58 affordable family rental apartments encompassed in four buildings and integrated within Winmore. The Landings will offer open floor plans, fully equipped kitchens with pantries, washer/dryer connections, balconies and outdoor storage for each handicap accessible unit.
During the first half of 2010, Winmore has seen a whirlwind of activity with even more in the works for the rest of the year. As of the First of July, eight new home have sold or are in the process of closing in 2010, leaving two move-in ready townhomes and five turnkey single family homes currently for sale. Construction is nearly complete on Phillips Square, Winmore’s village center, with two sales in place and additional commercial and residential condos available. Winmore is also bustling with the construction of three pre-sales and three single family homes that will soon be completed.
WINMORE 5K A HUGE SUCCESS!
With over 100 registrants and well over 200 people gathering at Winmore for the 5K Run and 1 mile walk, about $1400 was donated to The Childhood Trust. The morning air was a bit chilly but the mood was warmed by good fellowship, fun for all, and good food. The UNC Ram was as popular as ever for young and old alike, kids loved the bouncing houses, balloons made into magical shapes, running around open spaces, the playgrounds and, of course, the festive atmosphere.
The end result of this great morning was being able to help make known a little-known but most worthwhile organization The Childhood Trust, which funds the Program on Childhood Trauma and Maltreatment. PCTM is an outpatient clinical program through the UNC Department of Psychiatry, which exists to promote safety and healing for maltreated and traumatized children, regardless of their financial status. For additional information please check the UNC School of Medicine website.
Thanks to everyone involved in the 1st Annual Winmore 5K Run for The Childhood Trust; for a job well done!
PRESCHOOL COMING TO WINMORE
Winmore is excited to announce that a new preschool will soon break ground in the neighborhood. When completed, this preschool facility will result in all primary level education being within a short distance from Winmore homes.

G. CRABTREE HOMEBUILDERS FEATURED IN CHAPEL HILL NEWS
In March 2009 the front page article in the Real Estate section of The Chapel Hill News recognized G. Crabtree Homebuilders for "building two smaller homes that can only be described as small but beautiful in Carrboro's Winmore village." Recognizing a trend in building more energy-efficient and sustainable homes, and noting in these Crabtree's homes, fewer square feet does not mean sacrificing beauty or comfort, the article points out the benefit of building small and building green while still building beautiful!
The article also quoted developer Scott Kovens whose vision, together with that of the Town of Carrboro, is for Winmore to be a mixed-use neighborhood featuring a variety of housing types with welcoming front porches and private spaces at the side or back of homes, and for a central gathering place (Philip's Square) near commercial and retail businesses. In Winmore, whichever home you own, living space is expanded by the architectural site plan having 26 acres of open space, including a community pool and cabana, playgrounds, orchards, trails and sidewalks. And, of course, the meandering and beautiful Bolin Creek to walk along.
WINMORE BUILDERS CELEBRATE SUCCESS
Some of our exceptional Winmore Builders are being acknowledged outside of Winmore - Dixon Kirby Homes just sold another million dollar, beautiful, green, luxury home in Raleigh and Kovens Construction Co. created the design and built another high-end presale home in Chapel Hill.
Wherever and whatever style home they build, these talented builders 'build green' to protect the environment and the footprint of their sites, while affording their homeowners quality, beauty, comfort and energy savings as well; Sustainable Building - Sustainable Living at its finest!
Winmore is fortunate indeed to call G. Crabtree Home Building, Dixon Kirby Homes, and Kovens Construction Co the Winmore Builder Team!
